I am so excited to have a finished room in the house! I worked on the loft this weekend and am pleased with the results. I have to admit that it was my friend Megan who visited for two hours in March that really inspired me to do what I did. She said that with a coffee table and a plant or two, it wouldn't take much to make it feel more cozy. And she was right! Jim and I got up before 5:00 a.m. this last Wednesday. Do you know why? IKEA! Yes, we were the people who were at the grand opening, waiting in line starting at 6:00 a.m. It was much fun! Jim was an IKEA virgin and enjoyed his first experience very much.... We bought a coffee table and picture frames, along with a variety of other things that simply spoke to us. The first 2,500 people in line got a gift card ranging from $10 to $2,500. We figured it was worth the effort, and hey, worst case scenario we would walk away with $20 free. But there was a worse scenario. Jim got a $10 gift card and I got one too -- buy one hot dog get one free!

I painted the loft one shade darker than the surrounding areas and it looks really nice. I am not very good with paint color picking, so I figured I'd take the easy way and go with something I know we already like....
Enjoy the before and after photos!
