Family vacation for one, anyone?

Do you remember where Cameron Diaz was planning to go on her honeymoon in the movie My Best Friend's Wedding? She was marrying a sports writer, and it was all about which teams won and lost. If Sacramento sweeps Dallas, then they would go here. But if this team loses then they would go there.

This is now the story of my own life.

I became the girl who watches the NBA. Not because I like professional basketball. But because Jim's and my family vacation to Florida depended on whether the Utah Jazz won or lost the first round of the NBA play offs. Much to our chagrin, they beat the Houston Rockets in the seventh game. And this meant that Jim stayed home and put me on a plane by my lonesome to sunny, scenic Florida. To see his family.
Anyone I mentioned this to said things like, "You're going to see his family, by yourself?" And this is what I did for a whole week. Yes, I went to see my in-laws all by myself. But who wouldn't if they were in my shoes? I am doted on, shuttled around, fed well and overall treated like a princess.
I spent about three days with Sue and Tom, Jim's aunt and uncle and their three kids north of West Palm Beach. Then Pat and Jackie took me to their neck of the woods, the west coast of Florida where I enjoyed four novels, a wonderful boat ride and a visit with Pat's brother Jim and his wife Sharyn. Jim's family is great -- they always welcome me with open arms and think that Jim has done pretty well for himself! Time with them is always comfortable and relaxing. Here are a few photos from Pat and Jackie's place in Port Charlotte. It's the perfect rest 'em up resort.

Now I'm back and the Jazz have managed to move into round three. Can we say, "Go San Antonio Spurs?" When the Jazz finally lose life in Jim's department at the Tribune gets much more reasonable!

Sounds like a good time. Too bad Jim missed it. ;-)

And I agree, Joanna has all her ducks in a row. Plus she looks good too.

You're a peach, and I miss you! Sounds like the time Mike went to Indiana without me to see my family! Glad you had a good time, and they know you well, you are a princess!
